According to Superside’s latest data, ChatGPT continues to dominate with an astounding 25 million monthly searches from U.S. users. This figure underscores the widespread curiosity and reliance on ChatGPT, positioning it well ahead of its competitors.

Google’s Gemini Trails Behind Despite Increased Visibility

Trailing significantly behind is Google’s Gemini, which garners approximately 1.5 million searches each month. The disparity is stark, with ChatGPT leading by over 23 million searches. This gap highlights the challenges Gemini faces in capturing the same level of public interest and trust.

Gemini’s journey hasn’t been smooth. Earlier this year, the AI tool encountered setbacks, including the shutdown of its image generator shortly after launch due to problematic rendering of racial features and inadequate performance in coding tasks. These issues likely contributed to its slower adoption rate.

Potential for Growth Amidst Current Challenges

Despite its rocky start, there are signs that Gemini’s profile is on the rise. The inclusion of Gemini in Google’s highly anticipated Pixel 9 smartphone lineup could be a game-changer. Although Superside’s data was collected before the Pixel 9’s release, the anticipation surrounding the device suggests that Gemini’s search interest may surge in the coming months as the phones hit the market and Gemini becomes more accessible to Android users.

Other AI Tools Struggle to Make an Impact

The research also sheds light on the broader AI ecosystem, revealing that several well-known AI models have yet to break into the top tiers of search interest. Platforms like Character.ai, Claude, and Suno did not feature within the top 15 most-searched-for AIs, indicating a preference for more established names.

Following Gemini, Microsoft’s Copilot ranks third with 368,000 monthly searches, showcasing its presence but still far behind the leaders. Other notable mentions in the top five include Perplexity and Brave Search, with Phind, Algolia, You, YouChat, and KOMO rounding out the top ten. These figures suggest that while there is growing interest in AI tools, only a few have managed to capture significant public attention.
