Recently, the AI robotic dog successfully completed its first field mission, investigating a mysterious odor troubling residents near Yuen Long Industrial Estate. By following the robot's guidance, Senior Environmental Protection Inspector PS Lee and her team traced the odour to volatile gases, obtaining crucial pollution index data directly from the machine's readings. This marked a major success, demonstrating the effectiveness of the robotic dog in real-world scenarios.
Award-Winning Innovation
The robotic dog project captured second prize in an AI innovation competition held at the Creative Science and Technology Labs. This accolade accelerated the transition from an innovative idea to a functional tool for environmental protection. The Environmental Protection Department is now planning to further train the robotic dog to identify a wider range of odors, thereby enhancing its utility across various environmental settings.
